As promised, here are the highlights of our 4th of July weekend.   On Friday (about an hour after Ryan returned from camp), he re-packed his suitcase and we hit the road for Fosston.  Half an hour later we took a roadstop at one of our favorite places in the summer- Gordy’s.  If you’re passing through Duluth,  you need to check it out.  Here’s their website ( http://www.gordys-hihat.com/index.php) just in case you’re curious.  It’s an Underwood favorite!

Four hours later the four of us unloaded at my sister Kate’s house.  Pulling up was amazing because we knew she and my brother -in-law Tim had built a front porch and done some major landscaping… but we were BLOWN AWAY.  If we didn’t know their mailing address, we would’ve passed the house right by.   (I should’ve taken a picture of that).  The next morning us girls took off to their local “farmers market” .  I had high expectations of finding some amazing fresh fruit for a salad.  Strangely the farmers market turned out to be a few folding tables setup with various items: bread, jewelry, lotions, dying vegetables.  It was a sad sight.  Here are the girls before we took off on our adventure:

Later that afternoon we went to the Polk County Fair which had a very diverse petting farm.  Jameson went nuts!  He had so much fun playing with his cousins (Grace & Jude) during the weekend.  Here are the boys having a bedtime story with my sexy man:

And to tie up a perfect weekend, our tradition is to play “Settlers of Catan” which my brother-in-law Eric introduced to us a couple years ago:

This is only my second time participating in the game.  It’s not what you would call a mindless game and I find by the end of the day I don’t have very much strategy or thinking skills left… so it’s a good thing we played it during kids   nap-time!  Even so, I wasn’t victorious <bummer> but I did build myself the longest road which earned me +2 points!  We had another great 4th of July with the Carltons and Spickelmiers. What did you do?

  1. Looks like you guys a great weekend. I love Jameson’s expression while his Dad is reading. He is very intent and focused 🙂
