As most house projects go, my “small” project this week has gotten a bit bigger.
Don’t ask me why, but the previous owners of our humble abode put cream carpet in the front porch. Cream! Our guests have been tracking over it for the past five years. (You probably get the picture). To top it off, they didn’t have the carpet perfessionally installed so it looked something like this. The upside was the first layer was very easy to take out. The downside was there were three layers of carpet.
The laminate flooring below all that carpet was in rough shape in some areas, so I decided to paint it. We had left over paint from the master bedroom floor. Total cost of the project so far: deglosser to prep laminate for paint, roller, paint tray, and a whole lot of arm labor. Next we need some base trim put up and I’ll need to enlist Ryan to work on the threshold. I’m hoping that with a new clean floor the kids can use the porch for additional play space for weeks like this when
you don’t want to get out of bed the sun doesn’t shine.
Happy Friday. Forecast for the weekend: sun!
